Things to do and places to go

Allison Senger, Staff Writer

Teenagers always have impressive expectations for summer, but when it eventually rolls around they are stumped on things to do.

This is usually caused by laziness and the unknown fact that there actually are fun things to do around Medina. Now Medina doesn’t have the immense amount of things as New York City or Chicago but that doesn’t mean one can’t use his or her own imagination to create their own New York City right in the middle of little old Medina, Ohio.

If the trees are your best friend and you just love being outside and spending time in the fresh air, look no farther than the Hinckley Reservation. It has a variety of things to keep you occupied, such as, biking, hiking, swimming, fishing and just good old fashion exploring. If you are unable to make it out to Hinkley make your own little Hinkley park. Go to the nearest swimming pool and, while swimming, close your eyes and imagine that the leg that just touched you was actually a scaley fish or a log. You could also visit a local pond or creek, go fishing, and search for crawdaddys (not that you would actually touch the freaky things).

Don’t forget that a day on the square is good for the soul! Going to All Fired Up and decorating a plate and taking it over to Dan’s Dogs to eat off of sounds deliciously fun. Remember that Lemonberry is still on its little corner, making the mouths of passing-by drivers water. If you prefer to be more outgoing pack a picnic basket and drive until you find that perfect view to pull over and enjoy.

Also, make sure to include some concerts on your list of things to do this summer. The country megaticket can get you to see a lot of big name country artists, such as, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Sam Hunt, Hunter Hayes, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean and more. If you’re more into the rock/punk genre Vans Warped Tour is coming to Blossom. It is featuring more than 70+ bands, including Black Veil Brides, Memphis May Fire,  Pierce The Veil, PVRIS, The Amity Affliction, Beartooth, Riff Raff and many more.

If you like to go on excursions, look no farther than Cedar Point. It has some of the world’s biggest and fastest roller coasters, which are certain to give you that adrenaline rush most crave.

From having a day on the square, seeing your favorite band live, or exploring the outdoors, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing as long as you are having fun. Remember that doing these things are fun but they would be even better if you experienced them with friends and family. So instead of heading out to grab lunch alone, include someone you know can make it into an adventure, instead of just a run for food.
