The Medina Girls Varsity Soccer team tied 2-2 at Strongsville Wednesday night. The intense game was packed with action, with goals from forward Haley Anspach and midfielder Marin Auth.

Before the game, midfielder Janiece Joyner knew this game would be a fight to the finish.

Joyner said, “Every year we play each other it’s a tough battle. They always bring a lot of energy against us. I think that if we match their energy and stay focused Medina will do well.”

Medina came out strong in the beginning, with standout freshman Anspach scoring in the first half.  Auth, scored off a header in the second half. Strongsville came back both times, ultimately calling the game a draw.

This year the varsity team is very young, with only one senior. This could be their ticket to States because the team has more time to mesh together.

Midfielder Zoey Skidmore said, “I think our team being so young is to our advantage. Unlike most teams we have more freshmen than seniors on our team but I think that will allow us to have time to grow and mature as a team. We already have so much talent I can only see us going up from here. It is still early in the season.”

The potential this team has is incredible, go out and support our Lady Bees this season! Their next home game is tonight, Monday, September 19, at 7pm against Hudson. All admission is free because it is a rescheduled game.
