Girls Cross Country staying fit

Hey Medina! Have you been keeping up with our Girls Cross Country?

The girls cross country team is currently halfway through the competitive season. The girls currently have one more regular-season home meet at Ella Canavan Elementary Saturday, October 8th.

Once the girls complete the regular season then they will complete a conference meet and start on the state tournament series. The state tournament series has three rounds districts, regionals and states.

For the last six weeks, the team had been working hard at keeping fit and staying healthy.

“We swim at 5:30 AM at the Rec and then they have the afternoon off,” Olsen said.

This form of exercising lets the team have a free afternoon, to do homework or to just relax.

Last year the team set huge goals at the beginning of the year, and placed 10th at states. This year the team has a new set of confidence and purpose for the sport.

Coaches Jordon Olsen and Scott Vanfleet have made some changes to the training program for the girls.

“We have slightly revamped the training and are happy with the way it has been playing out,” Olsen said.

If you would like to catch the girls in action the next couple meets are listed below.

Saturday, October 8th — Medina Cross Country Festival (Ella Canavan Elementary)

Saturday, October 15th — Greater Cleveland Conference Championships (Strongsville High School)
