DIYs for the dog days of summer

MHS! Summer is just a couple weeks away, and The Medinamite has some easy summer DIYs (“Do It Yourself” crafts) to kick off your summer.

The first one is for that one person you know who always has a messy car. First, go out to your car and measure your center console. Then head to your local dollar store and find a desktop organizer to fit the dimensions of the console and pop it into your console to organize it so you don’t have the hassle of digging through you whole console for one item.

The next DIY is for the food lovers in your life who enjoy a good sweet. First, the common mistake of making a ‘brookie’ (brownie-cookie) is that most people attempt to put a layer of cookie dough,  a layer of brownie mix, and then another layer of cookie dough. However, the brownie mix usually doesn’t bake correctly. Instead, cook your brownies first and cut them into small cookie sizes. Then, put one layer of cookie dough down, add the brownie pieces, then add another layer of dough then close it and bake until the time directed.

The last DIY is for all the Lush lovers. Instead of ordering your Lush bath bombs, thanks to the DIY community, you can now make your own. You’ll need a ½ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of cornstarch, epsom salt, and citric acid. 3-4 tsps of coconut oil, 1-2 tsps of water and 1 tsp of an essential oil of your choice and optional drops of food coloring. Whisk together all the dry materials first, then the wet ingredients, whisking until it is fully mixed to perfection. Then put your fresh bath bomb mixture into a mold, and let it sit for 5 minutes. Take the bombs out and let them dry for 24 hours. Then enjoy your DIY bath bomb!
