MHS Drama Club is looking forward to having a much larger cast for this year’s spring play. The first organizational meeting of Drama Club was held last Wednesday.

Drama Club coordinates and oversees both SPICE and the spring play after the holiday break. While that may seem far off, there is a great deal to plan. Mr. Ron Douglas and Mohn are the club advisors.

“Please encourage friends and classmates to join the club, the play, and SPICE!” stated Mr. Douglas.

If those interested do not want to try out for acting roles, Drama Club also needs crew members. The crew consists of set design, makeup, costumes, sound, lighting, props, advertising, management, prompts, and student directing.

Each group will have a “crew head,” who directs and manages that part of the crew.

“The thing I’m most looking forward to,” said second-year crew director and English teacher, Mr. David Mohn, “is just meeting all the new crew members that come out to help. We should have a good season this year and I’m looking forward to the new things that we’ll be doing.”

SPICE informational meetings will be Oct. 2, 3, and 4. Signups will be Nov. 27, 28, and 29. Auditions will be Dec. 5, 6, 7. Rehearsals will be Jan. 16, 17, 18. SPICE takes place on Jan. 19 and 20.

Auditions for the spring play will be “open” this year, meaning students will audition in front of everyone. Auditions will be held in the Middle Auditorium at 2:45 pm on Jan. 22, 23, and 24. Materials needed can be picked up starting Dec. 13.

Officer forms and other information are available in the folders in front of Mr. Mohn’s room at #1216. For any more information, you can text @mhsdclub to 81010 for Remind updates.
