ATTENTION STUDENTS

Are you interested in being a positive mentor to a student at Garfield, Northrop or Claggett Middle School next school year as part of Big Brother/Big Sisters?  If so, go on Blackboard and complete an application before February 28th.  This is a nationally recognized program and offers a wonderful opportunity to impact the life of a younger student.  Become a “Big” to an elementary or middle school “Little” by applying today.

March lesson plans are due today.  Please be sure to drop off a copy in the Huddle/Shuddle bookshelf or turn it in to Mrs. Lasher.

 

KEY CLUB

We have a meeting tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. in room 1227.  Hope to see you there!

 

CHINESE CLUB

If you want to be an officer for Chinese Club next year applications are due this Thursday.  All grades can apply.

 

OASIS OF HOPE DRIVE

Please bring baby items and toiletries such as baby clothes, diapers, toys, and baby wash to donate to the Oasis of Hope.  Oasis is a non profit organization here in Medina.  There are donation boxes located in all the offices.  Help us make a difference for children in need.

 

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS

MHS HUDDLE and SHUDDLE teams are now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year.  If you are a current sophomore or junior and would like to be a positive role-model for younger students, teach prevention lessons to elementary students and be involved in a positive leadership opportunity apply today.  Applications can be found on Blackboard on the Student Page.  click on the Applications Link, complete and submit the HUDDLE/SHUDDLE application as soon as possible.  All applications are due by February 28th.  No late applications will be accepted.

If you are a current H/S leader and you want to continue this leadership opportunity next school year and must re-apply using the Evaluation/Re-Application form on blackboard.  Due date is February 28th.  No late applications will be accepted so please go online today and complete your reapplication today!

 

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Joe Obermeier who is student of the week.  Joe was nominated for turning in lost keys and a wallet he found in the MECCA.  Way to go Joe!  Stop by room 2111 for a spirit water bottle!

 

STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS

Don’t forget we have a Student Council meeting 3rd period today!  Student Council members if you are interested in being a Top 4 officer there is a mandatory meeting in Mrs. Calaiacovo’s room tomorrow after school.

 

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February recognizes Black History Month:  Did you know in 1849 Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery.  She later helped about 300 other slaves gain their freedom by escaping through the Underground Railroad.

 

GOOD MORNING FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS

Would you like to go on an adventure?  Join your peers as Medina High School is taking a trip to Europe in June of 2019.  We’re going to Paris, Versailles, Omaha Beach, and London.  You’ll get a chance to see the Louvre, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace, as well as the beaches of D-Day.  For more information please come to a meeting with mom and dad on February 28th at 6 p.m. in room 2103.  Please see Mr. Mo or Ms. Shaffer if you have questions.

 

GIRLS LEADERSHIP CLUB

Just a reminder we have a meeting Thursday at 7 a.m. in the Junior Commons.  Please bring your final peanut butter donations and be ready to talk about some possible spring and summer volunteer opportunities.  See you there!
